Predominantly human-populated-world. The other races (dwarves, elves, etc) have all but gone into seclusion. Within the last 45 years, no true clerics have been born and the plague has begun to take hold in many cities and across the countryside. Famine and poverty are all too commonplace.
Magic is distrusted by common folk and lords, alike – in many places, strictly regulated or even outlawed. This is compounded by the emergence of “sorcerers” – humans born with an innate ability to channel arcane power. However, without the training of wizards and the Towers of the Arcane to regulate them, the wild magics of the sorcerers have become a threat.
